Egypt's ousted leader Mohammed Morsi has gone on trial in Cairo, telling the judge the case is illegitimate as he remains president.
He and 14 other Muslim Brotherhood figures face charges of inciting the killing of protesters outside the presidential palace in 2012.

Hundreds of protesters in Kenya have handed over a petition to police demanding justice for a teenager who was gang-raped.
The 16-year-old was gang-raped and then thrown in a pit latrine breaking her back.
The three men accused of gang-raping her were ordered by police to cut grass as punishment.

A statement agreed by the leaders said that "a lack of trust could prejudice" intelligence-gathering co-operation.

West urges Syria opposition to join Geneva talks

Kenya attack: Westgate mall bodies 'probably gunmen'

Two charred bodies pulled from Kenya's Westgate shopping centre on Thursday are "highly likely" to be two of the attackers, an MP has told the BBC.

A military jury has sentenced a former US Army psychiatrist to die by lethal injection for killing 13 soldiers and wounding 32 at a Texas Army base.
Maj Nidal Hasan, 42, was convicted last week of the November 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
The defendant had tried to admit his guilt but military law bans guilty pleas in death penalty cases.
